Ride, Connect and Thrive

At Abbotsford Park, we strive to empower students to tackle challenges and take on new equine experiences from riding through to horse management. We take a holistic approach to teaching lessons and strongly believe that "there is more to horses than riding". REST EASY NOW, COSTA

Sadly, on Tuesday March 5th, we lost a very loved and important part of our team, Costa.

It appears he was bitten by a snake, but he seems to of went very suddenly and without any sign of struggle. He had whinnied at us over the fence (as he did when he wanted food or attention), while we got in the car to take Estella to the park for lunch and arrived home 1.5hrs later to see the horses all hovering over him. He sadly had already crossed the rainbow bridge.

We will continue on, but I'm not sure I've processed it properly yet. We know that so many of you have had wonderful times with Costa and we would love for you to share your fondest memories of him here on our page, in the comments or by tagging us in your posts/stories. We want to remember all the wonderful times he gave us! Words can’t describe how much we’ll miss him!

We are forever grateful for Costa's time with us, but saddened it wasn't longer. I feel utterly helpless and left wondering why our beautiful Costie was taken so soon. How can life be so cruel!?

Rest Easy up there Costie. May you get all the carrots (and vegemite) that you can eat. I hope you're up there pig rooting and causing mischief. I'm going to really miss your girly whinny at the gate each morning and afternoon.

Please watch over us.

Till we meet again.

ABBOTSFORD PARK INSTRUCTOR SPOTLIGHT

Your coach at Abbotsford Park is a passionate horse lover. Kaylee has been slowly developing her coaching skills over the past several years since retiring from the Horse Racing Industry in 2020. Kaylee is currently studying to receive her Certificate III in Sports Coaching and has attended many seminars and clinics to help expand her knowledge. She is keen to continue her education and share her knowledge with her students. Kaylee's passion lies in classical dressage and developing a strong connection with the horse, while focusing on the horses natural balance and correct movement. However, don't be surprised to find her having a go at many other sports with her OTTB, Kevin. Kaylee has also dipped her toes in trick training, in-hand, groundwork, show-jumping and is currently learning to ride Kev at liberty.
Kaylee's friendly, "go at your own pace" approach to coaching makes her the perfect choice for teaching children and adults, particularly those who struggle with confidence and anxiety.

OUR WHY

To Make A Difference

We make it our mission to welcome every client as friends and treat them like family. We want to share our knowledge and passion for horses. For us, it's not necessarily about teaching people to ride as much as it is teaching children and adults to become better horsemen and women.

"If I can teach my students how to understand their horse more correctly; to connect and become a team, to look out for their horses needs and find freedom in each interaction - that's when I know I've done my job correctly. "
